Garden
There is parking space for one car by the track which leads to the cottage, (additional free parking is available a short distance away by the village hall). From here a fairly steep path leads down to the cottage. The picture to the below is taken from the gate beside the parking space. Much of the garden is on a slope; it is sunny, but with plenty of trees for shade. There are two wooden tables with chairs.
Entrance Hall
You enter the cottage via an entrance hall with coat hooks, toys and games. This leads into the living room.
Living Room
The living room is the ground floor of the original 16th century part of the cottage. The cob walls are very thick and there are exposed wooden beams. There is a large inglenook fireplace with the original bread oven chamber on one side and a woodburning stove, for which logs are provided. Two sofas are near the fireplace; a dining table and chairs are at the other end of the room and there are plenty of books. From the living room, a door leads to the kitchen.
Kitchen and bathroom
The modern kitchen is large with a door leading out to the garden and the woodshed and views across the field. There is plenty of cupboard and worktop space and it is well equipped, with washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher. Off the kitchen is the bathroom. This has a large bath with an electric shower over it.
Upstairs
A wooden open plan staircase leads from the living room up to the two bedrooms. The double bedroom is a charming room with sloping ceilings and, since it is above the living room fireplace, a very large chimney breast. The twin bedroom is a most unusual room, partially divided into two by the original end wall of the cottage. There is a low archway between the two parts of the room (only small children do not need to duck!) and they share a very deep windowsill (I used to crawl round it when I was a child). If you turn round after stooping through the archway, the wall above it slopes back and you can see where the original thatch was. There is a single bed in each part of the room. The partial dividing wall provides a certain amount of privacy.
